more pictures from the weekend

tonight I am going to post some pictures of the other crafts that are demonstrated in the Ladies Building along with tatting.

Weaving round scrap rugs

Weaving on looms

Weaving rectangular scrap rugs

Quilting

Knitting Machine
Brazilian Embroidery

Sewing with a treadle machine & Hardanger
Dyeing yarns with Natural dyes
The rug hanging behind Marion is her own weaving with her own hand dyed yarns.  It is hanging upside down, but wasn't noticed right away.  The center motif is a butterfly.  The same design is painted on her floor.
The wood cook stove works, and she uses that to cook her dyes,  beets, high bush cranberries, grapes, she uses mordants such as iron rust, copper, and other types of metals.

Spinning,  there were several spinners using varying types of wheels and yarns.

The sewing circle, where several people were doing different types of needlework

Sock knitters or scarves, her machines vary in age from 90 to 110 years old and they still work
The bobbin lacer who shared my booth
a mom and daughter

this is their booth, mom canes and daughter does sampler style cross stitch

That is tonight's tour of the ladies activities.

I have some pictures of some of the outside displays and will share them another night

Last weekend's tatting demo

This past Labor day weekend, from Friday through Monday, I attended the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, MN.

it was my joy to be able to sit and tat for all 4 days
Here is a look at our booth, we shared it with a bobbin lacer
Pat, she has been the resident tatter for many years but is thinking of switching to bobbin lace

Lady learning to tat,               me,               Pam the bobbin lacer
The gal in the back had been trying to learn how to tat, we were able to get her flipping the stitch, and doing both rings, chains and joins before she left. We showed the flip to more then 3 doz or so of the people who walked past. I sold several starter kits of a boye shuttle and the Learn to Tat with Lacet booklet.
another view of me in my prairie dress with pioneer bonnet
The bonnet that I am wearing was made by Karrieann
This year's featured farm equipment brand was International Harvester and the gals in the Ladies activities building were encouraged to wear something in red, or an apron made of fabric that featured that brand.

These are the projects that I worked on over the 4 days.
Easy Doily in FireFly size 40
you can see the bare thread where I am working a split chain as I climb out to the last round. I have been using Krystle's version for the Lark's Head Picot Join because of the sharply contrasting colors, and am trying to figure out how to do one with the split chain, we will see how that works.
Star Attraction Doily in Peacock and DMC Cordonnet Special both size 40
The Easy doily pattern is available from http://free-tatting.com/?p=12http://free-tatting.com/?p=12
The Star Attraction doily is one of Linda Davies

I was not able to finish either doily as I need more of the FireFly and Peacock threads from Jess and she is attending TAT DAYs this weekend, so will have to wait for her to get back home. The FireFly doily only needs it's last round, and the Peacock I have to pick out the last repeat as there is an extra ring and join that doesn't need to be there, then finish this round and do the last.  It won't take me too much longer once I can get back to it.  Those who have kept track of my blog will recognize this doily as one that I started earlier in the summer.  It got set aside to do other things and I will get it finished one of these days.

I have many more pictures of all the different ladies crafts as well as some of the steam engines that I will share on other occasions.  it is now past midnight and I need to get to bed

Any one have extra time to share, give away, sell??

I have been way behind, trying to catch up and get ready for a 4 day tatting demonstration over Labor Day.

I have been babysitting grandkids, and running around doing stuff.

This past weekend I canned 64 pints of Whole Kernal Corn and made 13 quarts of  Creamed Corn to put in the freezer, last night I canned 8 quarts of dill pickles.

The tomatoes still haven't ripened yet.  The Pole beans are flowering, the watermelon are almost ready.  and the beets need to be pickled.

And I still have to go to work everyday ~ would love to not have to do this.

Any one have any extra time they don't need?  I sure would like to get some.

I'm Late, I'm Late, For A Very Important Date

Sorry folks,  I had planned to draw the winner of the ball of thread last evening, but I ended up out of town yesterday and didn't get back until after 9 pm.  I was too tired and just didn't get it done.

Sorry

Here is a look at the Random Number Generator
The 6th commenter was Esoraleak  please contact me,  there was no email address available in your comment or your blog profile.

If I do not hear from her in the next day or 2 I will try again.
After discovering that I had no way to contact her, I check several more of the commenters, several of them also have no email address in their profile, nor in their comment.

Please dear blog friends, if you enter a contest, please be sure there is a way to get a hold of you.

Impromptu thread give away

I have a ball of thread that needs a different home.
It is a pretty variegated colorway, a deep burgandy with lavendar and soft pink.

It is made by Omega and is a size 50.

I like the colorway, but not the thread, it is a softer thread, and I have trouble with it.  I can see others have not problems, but for me it is just frustration and I choose to let it go.

I was working on a bookmark this weekend.
the pattern is mine, and will be written up and posted later when it has been re-worked.
The thread on the bottom side is the one I wish to give away. I gave up,  it has been so long that I have had to give up on a project that I can't remember the last time.  I have always been able to salvage things, but not this time.  Maybe I am getting older and less patient.... I don't know.

Anyway....  I will hold this open until the evening of the 10th.  Then enter all comments on both blogs  in a random number generator and choose the lucky person.

Please be sure that I can find your email address in your blog profile, or include it in your comment.

Here are a couple more pictures.
The ball of Olive Lizabeth is new and included in the picture only to show the size of the ball of Omega

Shanny wanted to say "Hi" to all his fans.  (He is not one bit camera shy.)

I thought I had a green colorway in this thread too, but can't locate it, so if I do, there will be another give away for that ball.

I was gone this past weekend camping with my BFF.  We started Thursday eve and broke camp Sunday night. Barb and I used their camper for the outing except for Saturday night when farmguy and I used our new tent.  Our husbands came out for Saturday and Sunday suppers. We enjoyed the break in routine.  Some nice walks, some soaking up the sun, some sitting in the shade reading or tatting.  A lot of quiet was enjoyed by both of us.

Next week I will spend it babysitting grandkids.  I have a 3yr old grandson who has epilepsy.  He has an apt with doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.  I will be staying with his older siblings.  Prayers for good results would be much appreciated.
