IT'S FINISHED!!!

or is it??????

This is the doily I have been working on using Jess from Tat-ilicious's  FireFly colorway thread in size 40

I have finished the pattern Round Doily.   But is it finished?  I have more of this thread. and am thinking that I maybe I need to add at least 1 more round.
What do you think?
Should I add another round?

If I add another round, should it have clovers pointing out ~ repeat the second round?
Do you have another idea?
Is the doily finished?

I have not tatted the last chain, because if I add more rounds, I would want to tat a split chain here instead of a regular chain then joining and cutting the thread.

The blocking isn't perfect, I simply flattened it out and steamed it a bit,  I usually wet it and pin it out on a circle template to dry.  It is about 8" dia right now.

Jess has amazing customer service, I mentioned in a previous blog post that I would need to order more of this thread to finish both this doily and the Star Attraction in Peacock, but would have to wait for her to get home from Tat Days as her shop was closed.  She saw my post and we connected by email and I was able to order directly from her.  She even posted the thread package on her way to Tat Days.  Thanks Jess.

Please let me know what you think.  I have other projects on the burner, so you can take a bit of time to think about it.

I have added a POLL at the top of the right column.

  1. Sometimes knowing when to stop is the most important thing. I think it's perfect just as it is. Save that thread for something else. Besides, what would you do if you got halfway through the next round and ran out of thread again?

  2. I'd be tempted to stop right where you are... it's gorgeous!

  3. I also agree that it looks finished. This would be one of those instances where being proficient at drawing software could give one an idea of what another round could look like. But I like it the way it is!

    1. I do have drawing software and it would be a part of the process, but have not had any time to work with it today.

  4. Hmmm... I may be the voice in the wilderness.... I think you should add that last round! Not sure about clovers on the outside - I think it needs something to pul it all together going around, like maybe for example a second round of chains on top of the first... or..? Just a thought...

  6. I think a last round would be beautiful, like a row of crowns..... just put a neat and tidy edge on it :D, if you found you didn't have enough thread, to answer Miranda's question above, do what we have all done a billion times, lol, cut off, lol/ it is beautiful, really beautiful. You could put a nice row in a solid color if you don't think you have enough to finish the last round in this color you are using though :) I wouldn't do clovers though, do something a little different :D

  7. I say stop,it looks complete to me, but it also depends what you're going to do with it? Would a bigger doily fill a space better?

  9. Love it just like it is and yes, one more round! That thread is awesome, too. Quite different from the HDT I've seen before. Will your pattern be available? if so, I'd like to purchase a copy. :)

    1. Hi Stephanie, the pattern for what is finished is available at the link above that says Round Doily. and that is free. If I do decide to do another round, then I will offer the pattern.
p.s. I am leaning toward another round which is why I asked the question, just have to figure out what
