Finally, the PIF!

It is the middle of April. Normally here in South East North Dakota, the grass is greening up, the ground is warming and drying enough that farmguy is busy working up the fields and planting wheat.  I'm planning the garden and starting the tomato, cabbage and other seeds in the basement.

This year for a birthday present, mother nature decided that we are not done with winter.  My birthday was Sunday the 14th. It was a snow storm.  This is what greeted me when I got up on the morning of the 15th.

Another 10" of snow, on top of the snow that hadn't melted yet.  Over night the wind went down so the snow clung to everything.  It was very heavy and wet.

This is Shep wading through the snow in the yard.

Those with good long memories may remember that I won a pair of very pretty earrings from Umi & Tsuru about a year ago.
One of the rules for the giveaway is that you hold one too.

It took me the longest time to figure out what to give.  I changed my mind several times.  When I ran into these cute little tins

They are not empty, but I am not showing what is in them.  You will have to win to find out.

These are made with Yarnplayers Pansy in size 50 with doodads and beads from FireMountain Gems and the findings are from eebeads.com.

These look a bit lopsided for some reason, but they are not.

These are tatted with LadyshuttleMakers Rainforest in size 50.  The doodads are from FireMountainGems and the beads are some that I was give.  I was remiss in not writing the giver on the bag, while I am pretty sure who gave them to me, I am not totally sure so won't say.  The findings are from Gale Marshall of TatsAll in Canada.

And the 3rd pair are tatted from Ladyshuttlemakers Wildflowers in size 50.  The doodads are again from FireMountain, the beads are Mill Hill Seed beads and the findings from Gale Marshall.

So, here are the rules.  I will keep the give away open until the 23rd. That is 1 week. In your comment, Please let me know your chose of earring .,..  Pansy, Rainforest or Wildflowers.  At the end of the week, I will use a random number generator to chose the 3 winners.  If more then 1 choose the same color earring, I will use draw for who gets their choice, the other will receive the 3rd pair of earrings.

UPDATE: PIF means Pay It Forward. If you win, you need to hold a give away of your own at some point showcasing your craft.

  3. Belated "Happy Birthday"! From sunny Florida, I can still remember those "snow days' in Upper Michigan. I know you are tired of the snow and I hope it goes away quickly. All three sets of earrings are beautiful and I have the perfect "outfit" to match the Rainforest set (should I be so lucky to win.)

  8. What a tough choice - each pair of earrings is gorgeous! I think, in the end, though, wildflowers is calling my name!

This winter has hung on and on; we're finally getting some Springtime here in the South. I just hope Summer isn't too awfully hot this year.

  9. Belated happy birthday! You received more snow on your birthday than we had all winter!

Your PIF is wonderful, but please don't include me. I can't wear earrings, and I would much prefer that someone win who can enjoy them. Love those tins!

  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Those wildflowers are so pretty--I've been wondering how you're surviving this everlasting winter. You have had nothing but white stuff--no wonder you're tatted up a storm of flowers!

  13. Happiest of birthdays from a couple of days ago. While we in Minnesota have also gotten an overabundance of snow this season, this week it's over half gone, just in time to make space for the next round which is due to start today.

I love the tins you found. I too don't wear earrings other than those I wear exclusively but if you could tell me where the tins are from, maybe I could find my own. They're so sassy! Guess that's what I love about them - their attitude.

Heidi in wet and soon again to be snowy, Minnesota

  17. Happiest birthday wishes, Jeanne!!
These sre all so beautiful; it's hard to decide! I wear a lot of blues and purples, so I'd say Pansy suits me the best. But I would be honored to have any of these!
Msy spring weather come your way quickly and without all the slushy wetness!

  18. well, since I really need to make up my PIF gifts, I really shouldn't enter myself into your giveaway. But I love the "Random crap" tin! That's fabulous! I will be looking for one of those for myself lol

Happy Birthday!! It's hard to imagine having snow now. (or ever) Last week we had temperatures in the upper 70s. I've even gotten my first sunburn for the year. So crazy, right?

    1. Weather records have been kept in Fargo continuously since 1880. (the local smalltown is only 125) Yesterday we broke the record for the latest day that reached 50°. We have not yet reached 50 and are not forecast to do so until sometime next week or later. April can reach 80 for a day or 2 some years. Mostly we are in the 40s, 50s & 60s for highs. We haven't hit 40 yet either.
