It is a 2 day drive from our home in North Dakota.<br />
<br />
We had a prior appointment for Feb 8th, so didn't get started until after 2 in the afternoon. We like to take a highway that is not in interstate, you see so much more scenery and US HWY 81 is the original route from Canada to Texas from before the interstate system was put in. Parts of it are 2 lane and a good share of it is 4 lane.<br />
<br />
The first day we made it into Kansas before stopping for the night. The next day we got on the road early and I took the first picture of this years trip in Oklahoma. To me the color of the dirt is just weird.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTSuolAy6-b5b9YQvE0ZVDUl6SJtHCoZfHKrm9Pe5gvChX3dxRXfsV9sR284oLSF1LBN1OpmdA2FRxVzXl1TWDMM4GzXdqvQX_v3zLpfHvrzKEnfyDepoFo2MQ6SNqBeiYCDaH3AORlyJ/s1600/IMG_0193.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTSuolAy6-b5b9YQvE0ZVDUl6SJtHCoZfHKrm9Pe5gvChX3dxRXfsV9sR284oLSF1LBN1OpmdA2FRxVzXl1TWDMM4GzXdqvQX_v3zLpfHvrzKEnfyDepoFo2MQ6SNqBeiYCDaH3AORlyJ/s640/IMG_0193.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Another feature of Oklahome that we enjoy traveling through are the Arbuckle mountains.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGp0k3-w0BxNuWip53C_P-7mF2h6a8DsumeaYdzwGCf7dgXKQXZQkOXJI5djWF1zCyp4nLM_yEN6mPtv3k96diCSoOL4gTf2yIhFSQJEmReygh8NFL95cKtxoXQRu7fgQZVPFPy814uzXm/s1600/IMG_0197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGp0k3-w0BxNuWip53C_P-7mF2h6a8DsumeaYdzwGCf7dgXKQXZQkOXJI5djWF1zCyp4nLM_yEN6mPtv3k96diCSoOL4gTf2yIhFSQJEmReygh8NFL95cKtxoXQRu7fgQZVPFPy814uzXm/s640/IMG_0197.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCAWbk0ZYGJlL6JQ7hhyeayHSL_tJZXeFd3fSPNXQ3DftlFVtg6yJPN2g-1G9amJLWPH5eBxal7wB880D_AyXCFMABNc34qX401ZiLw0356PbDLNVoidDqEZNlWlV9Ak3vq_ouFGty_iNU/s1600/IMG_0202.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCAWbk0ZYGJlL6JQ7hhyeayHSL_tJZXeFd3fSPNXQ3DftlFVtg6yJPN2g-1G9amJLWPH5eBxal7wB880D_AyXCFMABNc34qX401ZiLw0356PbDLNVoidDqEZNlWlV9Ak3vq_ouFGty_iNU/s640/IMG_0202.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Every time I see the name on the map or a sign, it gives me a bit of a tickle. I read a lot of westerns, and one of the brand names for coffee back in the very old days was Arbuckle. And another interesting thing about this area is <a href="https://www.arbucklemountainfriedpies.com/our-story" target="_blank">Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies</a>. They are very good.<br />
<br />
<br />
This year, the weather was really good, no fog, no rain, and the farmguy was willing to take the time to do some sight seeing. We stopped at one of the overlook pullouts and I took a few pictures, here is one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ZKadydKSd2o3mAiU-h-6LdlAdCV2ZlQKaOCoB2PthXe0fb5Ad7caVv682pWHVvjnJIKpKolAYwP96bVvn5_r-ISfJoN_TgXPJsztpqbsqED9WivE6mSHX-92UOlSh5Hb9n-VvY5uG2e-/s1600/IMG_0205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ZKadydKSd2o3mAiU-h-6LdlAdCV2ZlQKaOCoB2PthXe0fb5Ad7caVv682pWHVvjnJIKpKolAYwP96bVvn5_r-ISfJoN_TgXPJsztpqbsqED9WivE6mSHX-92UOlSh5Hb9n-VvY5uG2e-/s640/IMG_0205.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As we got closer to our daughter's house, we have to go through Fort Worth. The road systems truely look like piles of spaghetti<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjstf-akw9JWu5QnyXRmpGIWejWMNSZgC30AEHgIXcraORUuBZzj6ex2xnhff5XY2FkBmW9uG_kVnwlI9JpC8lOmHzzAxSa57AxaH-VwIljALLCtujYGBDxMmXyb6iDRGgiowhPtFvh_kEu/s1600/IMG_0229.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjstf-akw9JWu5QnyXRmpGIWejWMNSZgC30AEHgIXcraORUuBZzj6ex2xnhff5XY2FkBmW9uG_kVnwlI9JpC8lOmHzzAxSa57AxaH-VwIljALLCtujYGBDxMmXyb6iDRGgiowhPtFvh_kEu/s640/IMG_0229.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
there were some very interesting striated clouds<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhiRcW2L1EhJLlbyZheomYJ4KeRCk36VxWXIgaLuTB7yo8XN8FEh0VvY7yffUb-hG7QckeRFWWcytNF2Ds3wZENIM2lYEbSfoGXmwuSlbGpOOR2JRRbACQjtI5g_o45GEjHIPQ-T_D57nS/s1600/IMG_0237.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhiRcW2L1EhJLlbyZheomYJ4KeRCk36VxWXIgaLuTB7yo8XN8FEh0VvY7yffUb-hG7QckeRFWWcytNF2Ds3wZENIM2lYEbSfoGXmwuSlbGpOOR2JRRbACQjtI5g_o45GEjHIPQ-T_D57nS/s640/IMG_0237.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This year we took a fun present for our grandchildren, snow. <br />
I put our Yeti cooler out in the garage for several days to be sure it is chilled, then on the morning of the trip, I fill it with snow. close and latch the lid and it does pretty well for the 2 days og the trip. The kids had a great time with the snow and then they kept part of it for the next day for our granddaughter's 4th birthday party.<br />
<br />

<br />
Along with the snowball fight, we enjoyed the fire pot.<br />
<br />
Well, this is long enough for tonight.<br />
<br />
There is more to come, because farmguy decided we were not going to go straight back home after our visit, we are going to do more sightseeing.<br />
So stay tuned for some more interesting pictures.<br />

<br />
I have some photos to share<br />
<br />
I was out checking the chickens one of the last days of November and I managed to catch this sunset.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-TfvPBYlW0v0Aq4geWQQrG1CqvRf8YWauOhDEIqLwN_mgIJAwWUW3IRm_oQsj2PF2amaEbaHcMfqkBuMTRR6nO74rSOzZNgqFeJ7igr33ypLzzfUqm34cmEFAALP_fqgPh9SfThexnKZz/s1600/112719+sunset.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-TfvPBYlW0v0Aq4geWQQrG1CqvRf8YWauOhDEIqLwN_mgIJAwWUW3IRm_oQsj2PF2amaEbaHcMfqkBuMTRR6nO74rSOzZNgqFeJ7igr33ypLzzfUqm34cmEFAALP_fqgPh9SfThexnKZz/s640/112719+sunset.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and then a few days after that, this is what we ended up with,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Above is the aftermath of the snow storm, belowis what was going on during it. most of our windows were coated with the snow<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have had several more storms since, but I haven't taken pictures in all of them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last October before the first hard frost, I was invited to pick apples from one of Farmguy's cousins. They are yummy apples, and I canned several varieties of apple butter, and made apple sauce, and made some fried apples, and baked several types of desserts. One of the ones we really like is Apkple Bread Pudding</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
it is an old recipe from my grandmother and like many recipes from nearly 100 yrs ago, it is not exact, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3-4 slices of bread - I used 8 cups of dried bread cubes</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
moisten with about 1 cup milk - I used about 3 C milk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 - 2 C cut up apples - I used a good 6 C of cut up apples</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2 - 3/4 C sugar depending on tartness - I used about 1 1/2C sugar & some cinnamon & nutmeg</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dot top with butter - I used about 8 tbls of butter</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bake at 350 till apples are done. Serve warm with heavy cream (G & G milked cows) or ice cream</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did some bread baking before Christmas, both Sourdough and Julekage. </div>

<br />
Question #1<br />
I ran into a spice mix a week or so ago in an article I read, it sounded interesting and I thought I would give it a try. It is a blend of Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander, Cumin and black pepper, called Garam Masala<br />
It is very good on sauted carrots, and I added it to muffins tonight.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy3E2lbt6DW6kqtYloDMMVESh6HJvKHASiHKMzt5C-RmfBi3aWAKRt9-8ilrIF2bogzytbhrGgbFzOBbK12EirdrmfBCjiEffMyuhyphenhyphenbp-xPCB0wSMOAEnuvKA7v27aCu_8vZaAVn_KL8sD/s1600/GaramMasalaFront.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy3E2lbt6DW6kqtYloDMMVESh6HJvKHASiHKMzt5C-RmfBi3aWAKRt9-8ilrIF2bogzytbhrGgbFzOBbK12EirdrmfBCjiEffMyuhyphenhyphenbp-xPCB0wSMOAEnuvKA7v27aCu_8vZaAVn_KL8sD/s320/GaramMasalaFront.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdeKL3jcKB50AckwwvVGb79Tgf0rO55L6i3T8GUw5iJgpzQ4VZkI-4GtNIczQPD7TM4hv6cj7UkqQd9MVl2P7W1sh2VZrbFhi4uYIgjb_YExGYWmEEAVcsdgHsLd6IMX4OB0Ds_xZeyGNI/s1600/GaramMarsalaBack.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdeKL3jcKB50AckwwvVGb79Tgf0rO55L6i3T8GUw5iJgpzQ4VZkI-4GtNIczQPD7TM4hv6cj7UkqQd9MVl2P7W1sh2VZrbFhi4uYIgjb_YExGYWmEEAVcsdgHsLd6IMX4OB0Ds_xZeyGNI/s320/GaramMarsalaBack.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My question.... what other ways can this be used? if you use it, how?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Question #2</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One of the quick/easy desserts for our family is a recipe called </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Norwegian Apple Pie</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got this recipe from my mother-in-law between 40 - 50 yrs ago. (wow, writing that seems like such a long time, yet living is doesn't seem that long). Anyway, I think she got it from 1 of 2 publications that she read either Capper's Weekly or Prevention</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The recipe I have gives only the amounts of ingredients, there is no method and I was wondering if anyone else makes this. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaSh_ICVHe9esgMA-F7qHpqEAKGdCwt6yfEuw9fiZ2Y1gHoK306DC2vPhfuM-d80AOmpuk9cXnnpq0oibeabBrYtqlK8sxN0_Te7CWGKOu4hhSI25lQnfDSnMwQsfbzySns6bQUkrVwD1L/s1600/NorwAppPieRcp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaSh_ICVHe9esgMA-F7qHpqEAKGdCwt6yfEuw9fiZ2Y1gHoK306DC2vPhfuM-d80AOmpuk9cXnnpq0oibeabBrYtqlK8sxN0_Te7CWGKOu4hhSI25lQnfDSnMwQsfbzySns6bQUkrVwD1L/s640/NorwAppPieRcp.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see this has been well used. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX2-YUn3x2pDplI0McOywwAffRqgAyQzawZi4UI1OFvLkbU7D5ldFGsLpieC3LvCiRvF-i0UlOIJjW7tvcgNVcR26HpHNHE_2VzWmrtYmWbcpU12B3en9-UN_1wcTLSzYFxmvX_JrDFZqG/s1600/NorApplePie1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX2-YUn3x2pDplI0McOywwAffRqgAyQzawZi4UI1OFvLkbU7D5ldFGsLpieC3LvCiRvF-i0UlOIJjW7tvcgNVcR26HpHNHE_2VzWmrtYmWbcpU12B3en9-UN_1wcTLSzYFxmvX_JrDFZqG/s640/NorApplePie1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It makes a really nice crusty top and a custardy inside with no pastry crust. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If anyone recognizes this recipe I would appreciate any info you have for me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Question #3</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This one is a computer question</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Several days ago I downloaded a rather large file labeled Lace_for_manual_sock_machines.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't recall the MB but it was large. I have a 2019 HP Chromebook X2. for the next couple of days, I was constantly getting a notification that it was syncing the file. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It got to the point that I deleted the file hopeing it would stop trying to sync.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It still wanted to sync and was constantly giving me that notification </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie2EcSqHwwHFlpyavOr6TIAwcxQ9I2pIgtG3Fa_AQ41nsaye9jwEuNDkwTXIL-9uv6Tl8-VCeZRBdfn7zihJsTV2Mbp5hFJaNBNsLi6y_-wfnREcORpyCxQ_G-PGef0CpwiD2Xp6-_wRNL/s1600/Screenshot+2019-11-19+at+5.37.43+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie2EcSqHwwHFlpyavOr6TIAwcxQ9I2pIgtG3Fa_AQ41nsaye9jwEuNDkwTXIL-9uv6Tl8-VCeZRBdfn7zihJsTV2Mbp5hFJaNBNsLi6y_-wfnREcORpyCxQ_G-PGef0CpwiD2Xp6-_wRNL/s640/Screenshot+2019-11-19+at+5.37.43+PM.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tried shutting down and leaving it over night and all the next day before powering up again and I am still getting this notification. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
when files are deleted on this machine they are deleted permanently so it isn't trying to sync the file in the recycle bin. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If anyone has any help to get it to stop trying to sync I would appreciate it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Questions are done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
on one of my previous posts I took a photo at dusk of the wind break canvas that I had put up on my chicken pen. I thought I would take a couple better photos and show you what I was talking about. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTtTNhmLdZKQ6WmtnS9hVPhdbxOMpmb_t6KTGKA6WTuq_JUEvWu_jNIG2ccxc8TIJ_ZsfCQl85NBgH6LuG3laVynmhtriIBAMChYsGyZIwx6hUFCYcWKQuVWA4F8mBMdZHo2Eo4_nUQGxB/s1600/chickenPenWindBrk1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTtTNhmLdZKQ6WmtnS9hVPhdbxOMpmb_t6KTGKA6WTuq_JUEvWu_jNIG2ccxc8TIJ_ZsfCQl85NBgH6LuG3laVynmhtriIBAMChYsGyZIwx6hUFCYcWKQuVWA4F8mBMdZHo2Eo4_nUQGxB/s640/chickenPenWindBrk1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-KRFW-JqvwPjUNApVa3biHABK9yCDAQimIIC8wwr8PS9rP91pnz4_OhdiSwQAiVZeO_QpHT3lK_pD2hFqu7-JOgnrOENXDr2zPctVasfJ0iH6BGLlRKT7J3N3jYXOGK5g41Z6yuiE1pbu/s1600/chickenPenWndBrk2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-KRFW-JqvwPjUNApVa3biHABK9yCDAQimIIC8wwr8PS9rP91pnz4_OhdiSwQAiVZeO_QpHT3lK_pD2hFqu7-JOgnrOENXDr2zPctVasfJ0iH6BGLlRKT7J3N3jYXOGK5g41Z6yuiE1pbu/s640/chickenPenWndBrk2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The chickens have been enjoying being outside even in the chilly weather as long as they are out of the wind. Their nice fluffy down coats hold body heat well, as long as the wind isn't blowing up their fluffybuts</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIP9oNGwQpcmlOL9QjkDxFEt-HpKVWHInaAtLkgRATMG_UWLtWGk8NZnp-i-PhyphenhyphenrrfAs_RsMt9Luorm9l7YaQ-El_favQbSak9SkvJ5gZGmsguxN3pHgvhizc0lPrGm6VcbCCq4CqDJBR8/s1600/ChickenfluffyButt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIP9oNGwQpcmlOL9QjkDxFEt-HpKVWHInaAtLkgRATMG_UWLtWGk8NZnp-i-PhyphenhyphenrrfAs_RsMt9Luorm9l7YaQ-El_favQbSak9SkvJ5gZGmsguxN3pHgvhizc0lPrGm6VcbCCq4CqDJBR8/s320/ChickenfluffyButt.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now a rant</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The government helps farmers cover the costs of complying with their regulations. When you are able to sign up some land for the program Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), they require you to seed the land with a perrenial cover crop - grasses or others. Once you turn in your paperwork, they will repay some of your expenses to plant the seed. In other years we have gotten our reimbusements within a month, 2 at the most. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This year we were able to sign up some land along the sides of a creek to help stop erosion. We were able to get the parcel planted to the required seed mix this past spring. And had the paperwork returned for the reimbursement by June of this year. We waited several weeks, then started calling every month or so to see how their paperwork to release the money was getting done. We were told every time that the paperwork was backlogged, or that the person working on it was behind, or the person was new...... well, this morning we were told that the system has been shut down in Washington and has been for over 2 weeks and they don't know when it will be opened. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Due to the China trade tarrif wars, grain markets have been down, and because of the crazy cool, wet weather, harvest has not yet been finished. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have bills to pay, with less income available, and the reimbusement payment would help. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I contacted both state senators and our representative by email, but have not yet received a reply.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Will have to wait some more I guess.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

He has asked for a neck gaiter in blaze orange. I have the yarn, but designing the gaiter on my Circular Sock Machine has been interesting.<br />

This is my machine<br />

<br />
Farmguy likes his bread in easy to slice loaves, so my sourdough is baked in pans, not in rounds.<br />
<br />
The house was/is chilly due to the fact we have had so much rain this year, our wood supply is at best dsamp and at worst, soaked. So we are not getting as much heat out of the wood pile this year.<br />
<br />
<br />
Farmguy is still eating fresh tomatoes, they are ripening nicely after I picked them green. There are about 8 left.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I managed to actually get some painting done this fall. I painted most of the wood on the chicken house which hadn't been painting for 40-50 yrs. Boy did it soak up paint. I used a primer/paint combo. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBewgqlEIBL1rFhYMlF1EvKgPi3GHHOwqMMcOltJH5uKwhlGW8QYg5o9LCIoRpDnQWZUy_h_DvVagTEWduBskT9Jey6V7pen0c99ofzyOSrHA3O1nZotovyFHo54xCr3ZzBWKUgX7iqeRq/s1600/110919+ChickHouseDusk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBewgqlEIBL1rFhYMlF1EvKgPi3GHHOwqMMcOltJH5uKwhlGW8QYg5o9LCIoRpDnQWZUy_h_DvVagTEWduBskT9Jey6V7pen0c99ofzyOSrHA3O1nZotovyFHo54xCr3ZzBWKUgX7iqeRq/s320/110919+ChickHouseDusk.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I forgot to take my phone out earlier in the day yesterday, so took these at dusk when I went out. It may not be noticable but I have lined the outside pen wire walls with plastic canvas recycled from bulk seed bags The bags are about 4' cubed. I remove the tops and bottoms which aren't flat, and have a strip of plastic that is 4' tall and about 16' long. The chickens appreciate the wind breaks, they are not happy when their feathers are blowing in the wind. I don't cover the top, there is no support for a heavy load of snow on top of a tarp as it is just bird netting. the walls are double chicken wire and yard fencing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also got the inside of the chicken house whitewashed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig0qrU0w6o5OoeVY-r4dOhWB1Sx2f6GA8hsgYSlBjphFeWujMCMFqMJoYK18qf-EQGcUnhs8bK-758yOTScVM0Cdc_aOpS9iQrxoiNr28mw44vN_zDp7m7B7uixXzVH1AvXJ8ymsQ-jVbb/s1600/110919+ChickensNight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig0qrU0w6o5OoeVY-r4dOhWB1Sx2f6GA8hsgYSlBjphFeWujMCMFqMJoYK18qf-EQGcUnhs8bK-758yOTScVM0Cdc_aOpS9iQrxoiNr28mw44vN_zDp7m7B7uixXzVH1AvXJ8ymsQ-jVbb/s320/110919+ChickensNight.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took this at dusk after they had gone to roost for the night. I use the flash on my phone which gave them shiny eyes. I prefer whitewash inside over paint. The bugs and spiders do not like the lime in the whitewash, I can add canning salt when I mix it up and that helps to reflect light, so it is brighter without using a large lumen light bulb. And the lime, water, and salt will not harm the birds if they happen to peck at it and eat a bit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I managed to get the area under the roosts shoveled out friday when it was in the upper 30's and lay new straw, as it started snowing today. It was to cold and windy to let the chickens out so they had to be kept in all day. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
on a farming note, we have been able to get the soybeans all combined. nearly 2 months late. And have gotten about half the corn combined. We have dealt with water in the fields, normally the guys will combine all day and into the night to get done, but there was so much water in places, they had to only combine during the day so they could see the ponds. Running water into the combine is not good. Things get wet and when corners and places are full of chaff and dust, getting things wet and muddy gums up the works. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
well, enough for tonight. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Also in October we went to 2 concerts, first we have gone to in all the 46 yrs we haev been married. At the end of September, Farmguy answered a trivia question on the radio and he won tickets to a Mickey Gilley/Johny Lee concert. It was fun. A week later he was reading the paper and saw that Miranda Lambert and her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour was stopping in Fargo ND. We were able to get tickets and the date was just a few days after our Anniversary. We had a good time at that concert too. </div>

All I did was give them a framework, they did the growing and maturing themselves with God's help. </div>

I have allowed many things to get in the way of posting. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I have decided that I need to start again. </div>
<div>
I will be posting more than just fiber art. </div>
<div>
There will still be the occasional Tatting project or maybe crochet or maybe socks. </div>
<div>
But there will also be some pictures. I have gotten a new camera, and I am liking it very much. So you may see just those on occasion. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Back in January I was just learning this camera, and it is still an on going process, but I took these one evening while out shutting up the chickens, that was before the 2 months of sub zero weather. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0N5JY6CSew2S1XUcs7rv_u7eczOaR9YGxYfTtmUR2ap5aBGJAqjZ3WEpwopwvUcD9Wzsbb3cF-uQsqDs3-f2yN-5WhKnr8t9gqEpynQ9g8gVYIP0CXByFo2iOeeE6M6USDkif6eIYnPgW/s1600/IMG_0133.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0N5JY6CSew2S1XUcs7rv_u7eczOaR9YGxYfTtmUR2ap5aBGJAqjZ3WEpwopwvUcD9Wzsbb3cF-uQsqDs3-f2yN-5WhKnr8t9gqEpynQ9g8gVYIP0CXByFo2iOeeE6M6USDkif6eIYnPgW/s640/IMG_0133.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another subject you might see pictures of would be chickens. I have a flock of 26, 24 hens and 2 roosters. The flock is of mixed breeds and these are the colors of eggs that I get. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-p1xgQn4yKPMNk_GmS_FpJXktZmKuUrrtD58frK4PgcIvfy4qJbexqthlE775ckUEQauwdHaMKDLIW4759pkW83SZYaBJGXjBNZ7YP6DdTqk79ZBMiU9KCEofKgjMlwfU5S1RM3wNwRhu/s1600/IMG_0003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-p1xgQn4yKPMNk_GmS_FpJXktZmKuUrrtD58frK4PgcIvfy4qJbexqthlE775ckUEQauwdHaMKDLIW4759pkW83SZYaBJGXjBNZ7YP6DdTqk79ZBMiU9KCEofKgjMlwfU5S1RM3wNwRhu/s640/IMG_0003.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

We lost part of the roof of the pole barn where we house our calves. That should be roof, not open sky and there shouldn't be all that snow on the floor. There was a calf that got trapped under the rafters and steel, but he wasn't hurt. </div>

I will try to do better about posting as we go forward into 2019</div>

Gardening, chores, housework, farming and bookkeeping seem to be keeping me busy.<br />
<br />
Our congregation does a giving tree each year, this year there were several names that were still on the table after the 2nd sunday. I couldn't afford to fill all those requests but I could help out with some socks. So I started this past Thursday eve and Monday morning I finished the last kitchner stitches on the last pr.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I also have a friend that is battling breast cancer, surgery, chemo and now radiation. I have cranked a pr of socks for her too.<br />

<br />
I spent 4 days at the <a href="http://www.rollag.com/" target="_blank">Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, MN</a> over the Labor Day weekend. Here are a few <a href="https://www.facebook.com/wmstr/" target="_blank">pictures from the event</a>, <br />
<br />
I started my days at 5:45 helping the Mercantile kitchen make about 850 Carmel rolls and 50 frosted cinnamon rolls.<br />
Then by 8:45 I am heading to the Ladies Activity building to change into period costume and spend the day Tatting. I don't get much actual tatting done as I spend more time showing how to do the flip and teaching others to Tat.<br />
<br />
But I did get some things done.<br />

I don't know if I followed any one pattern exactly, but am not claiming any of these as my own design. The patterns can be found on Diane's blog <a href="http://lacelovinlibrarian.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Lace-lovin' Librarian</a><div>

The Ice drops were given to the Boutique at WMSTR for them to sell for fundraising.<br /><br />
I was able to get 2 of my Roses tatted for gifts for the other 2 ladies in the same booth. They both do Bobbin Lace usually during the show but both ladies can also Tat.<br />

The Pattern for <a href="http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/jlrose/jlrose.html" target="_blank">3D Rose Earrings</a> is on <a href="http://www.georgiaseitz.com/" target="_blank">Georgia Seitz</a> website. If you haven't browsed through all the information and patterns on Georgia's site, you really need to carve out some time to take a long look.<br />
<br />
One of the neat things that is available when at WMSTR is a Spark Show after dark. They use one of the old steam tractors and get the fire up and running - that takes a couple hours. Then when everything is ready they throw in a few shovels full of saw dust, which ignites and exits the smoke stake with the smoke. See the pictures and videos below that I took.<br />

This time it is a stole. It is part of a set that was given to him by the family of a Priest friend Fr D. They went to seminary together, but Fr D died of cancer a short atime after he was ordained. For this reason it was a very special vestment set for Fr A. <br />
<br />

<br />
He was wearing the Chasible and Stole a yr or so ago during a snow storm. Some how the stole was dropped in the snow as he got in his car and no one noticed. It was at least a few days before it was found on the other side of the street in a snowbank that had been pushed up by a skid steer. Needless to say, it was not in the best of shape.<br />

<br />
Fr A wanted to preserve as much of the original stole as possible, or it would have been easier to just make a new one.<br />
I spent quit some time looking for matching material and contacted a gal who does Vestment and Liturgical sewing for a living. <a href="https://www.ecclesiasticalsewing.com/" target="_blank">https://www.ecclesiasticalsewing.com </a><br />
<br />
I found some that matched pretty well. <br />
<br />
I have to say that cutting into vestments is always a bit scary for me, but I removed only as much as I needed to and replaced it with new. I was able to put the seam for the white under the blue velvet band and the seams for the gold lining don't show when it is being worn.<br />
Below are the after pictures. The original white is to the right of the bands and the fringe is original. If you look really closely, you will be able to see that the new fabric is not the same pattern as the original. It is close and with the band between, it isn't too noticable.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2B1yEcmA7z3pKCCdwohUTwyO6ZLX6Q9Ft2I627S3akiFffjb5iSwXkh3iw63pjCQaM0Fg98B0fraZumnDFrJLHMfu21ZjN35I2_DPKGuv15zfoulA7DOSa6lIGwshag6Yz64pXFptJ_1K/s1600/20170715_134939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2B1yEcmA7z3pKCCdwohUTwyO6ZLX6Q9Ft2I627S3akiFffjb5iSwXkh3iw63pjCQaM0Fg98B0fraZumnDFrJLHMfu21ZjN35I2_DPKGuv15zfoulA7DOSa6lIGwshag6Yz64pXFptJ_1K/s320/20170715_134939.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH5Uv-nQfyQCqw5hyphenhyphen7FvWUYmDANDgcX3KRtfKeUIU9VEGPhVDFWDmdFwXYhTUmgTYsm-YNSlXr1jn2syN1QW5TcZBYwyu1A3yXi6HJxK0oE-2xRmKPBHcqaIhNrPMDqzu_hzfCu8piG56W/s1600/20170715_135001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH5Uv-nQfyQCqw5hyphenhyphen7FvWUYmDANDgcX3KRtfKeUIU9VEGPhVDFWDmdFwXYhTUmgTYsm-YNSlXr1jn2syN1QW5TcZBYwyu1A3yXi6HJxK0oE-2xRmKPBHcqaIhNrPMDqzu_hzfCu8piG56W/s320/20170715_135001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I was able to save the cross from the original and add it to the remake.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiY1i50q_UkZAT06S_psIgi1rGBA70uB7_59bsRgCOicHClnk7_TBQqvxZvIHMZbEi1xm0Lgvmz0DuJGUcU1yYzU_TBGbwYYV82H4PuRFvOh_dIdHNEaQ-RDKlyhLeeJG7O8-bvjdKwMix/s1600/20170715_135030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiY1i50q_UkZAT06S_psIgi1rGBA70uB7_59bsRgCOicHClnk7_TBQqvxZvIHMZbEi1xm0Lgvmz0DuJGUcU1yYzU_TBGbwYYV82H4PuRFvOh_dIdHNEaQ-RDKlyhLeeJG7O8-bvjdKwMix/s320/20170715_135030.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here you can see that I was able to save more of the lining on side than the other.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5GUc68AhHRqcgGTr_W_ZRB3Fn5Gv0Jwjq7aMYw953acF4a7RnJYSSCbxoy_U_FwBhfxQgtlLIi_91L3k_WO73hbDhTqzLjeXjD2zpQ-3CtfYU70L1BFI4mrEsprNGgTKKQht1UPL0H_5V/s1600/20170715_135035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5GUc68AhHRqcgGTr_W_ZRB3Fn5Gv0Jwjq7aMYw953acF4a7RnJYSSCbxoy_U_FwBhfxQgtlLIi_91L3k_WO73hbDhTqzLjeXjD2zpQ-3CtfYU70L1BFI4mrEsprNGgTKKQht1UPL0H_5V/s320/20170715_135035.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The newer lining is a polyester satin and while in person it is close in color and shine, in the camera flash, it looks much different.<br />
<br />
Fr A is pleased so that is good. He wore it for Mass today. <br />
I am in the process of ordering some linen to make the "neck protector" that is sometimes applied to the neck edge of a stole that can be easily removed for laundering and keeps the stole cleaner. I will tat a small lace edgeing for it. <br />
<br />
Well it is nearly 11:30 at night so will close this. Ladytatshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13333655818263465112noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3690210664413329015.post-61985875490035836842017-04-18T21:33:00.000-05:002017-04-18T21:33:25.353-05:00Yes, it has been a loonng time. Too long really.I have been away from posting for a long time, I know. I have been involved in some other things.<br />
A granddaughter has asked me to make her prom dress. I have 3 weeks. She picked this pattern from my stash, I have used it before, but she is built a bit larger than my daughter was back in the mid 1990's. <br />
So I am looking for this pattern McCall's Fashion Basics # 7086 in maybe a size 16.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiWe8qoea-mpEa7xHs5hFJBmXhA2IMQgYOhJPuxqGndZfcgIXv7vyQ1_2vLlQ9L1l4u7AARRqBPQFtUHMhep-PTeUrb28vtOnPFhfFSYi59_Gew71BJFFnVRHqAgEbk0M_UlfMy2oSgfnD/s1600/dressPatternA04172017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiWe8qoea-mpEa7xHs5hFJBmXhA2IMQgYOhJPuxqGndZfcgIXv7vyQ1_2vLlQ9L1l4u7AARRqBPQFtUHMhep-PTeUrb28vtOnPFhfFSYi59_Gew71BJFFnVRHqAgEbk0M_UlfMy2oSgfnD/s640/dressPatternA04172017.jpg" width="537" /></a></div>
If anyone knows where I can find a larger size, that would be great. I can redraft this one, but not having to spend the time doing that would be a big help. <br />
I have 3 weeks to get this done, and won't be shopping for the fabric until this coming weekend.<br />
<br />
thanks in advance for any help.<br />

<br />
I haven't done much tatting but my wrist is pretty well healed and I should be able to do more now this fall. or sock knitting wool yarn doesn't seem to be as easy to work with in the heat, this summer. I have done some sewing for our Priest and have more to do.<br />
<br />
Aug 3 Farmguy and I headed to Rochester MN to Mayo Clinic. It is a 6 hr drive for us. well, that includes a couple stops.<br />
<br />
He had a major surgery that involved 2 seperate surgical teams. He got one problem fixed - the bladder - and that is good, but they were unable to reverse the colostomy. He is not happy about that, but nothing we can do, he just needs to get used to it for the rest of his life. We have a follow up apt back at Mayo the end of Sept. He is healing as well as can be expected, just not a happy person about how things turned out.<br />
<br />
I have in the past spent 4 days over the Labor Day Weekend at Rollag MN participating on Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. (<a href="http://www.rollag.com/" target="_blank">http://www.rollag.com</a>). But I will not be able to this year. I have spent those 4 days tatting and demonstrating and teaching tatting. This year I was going to add my sock machine as well.<br />
<br />
The garden is doing well, I should be canning tomatoes and freezing corn. The chickens are good. I actually hatched 30 chicks in an incubator this summer, something I hadn't tried successfully before. They are growing well. <br />
<br />
This has been my summer. <br />
<br />
Well, I hope all of you have had a wonderful summer and that fall will be just as good for you.<br />

<br />
My wrist is nearly healed enough to tat. I tried it a week ago, but still hurt, so still on hiatus. I am getting frustrated waiting. <br />
<br />
There will be another hosp stay later this summer/fall at some point for farmguy and I will be wanting to tat while sitting at his bedside. <br />
<br />
Last week we took a trip to <a href="http://www.medora.com/" target="_blank">Medora ND</a> to see the scenery and the outdoor musical. The Musical was a lot of fun, even for Farmguy. This <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=medora+musical&espv=2&biw=1600&bih=775&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=qDSCVd61JdjnoASS8KHYBg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAw" target="_blank">link will take you to a google images page</a> with photos of previous musicals and also shows the stage and seating set up.<br />
<br />
We had a good time. <br />
We toured both the South and North sections of <a href="http://www.nps.gov/thro/index.htm" target="_blank">Theodore Roosevelt National Park</a> and saw some awesome scenery and interesting animals.<br />
<br />
I forgot my camera, and didn't see any disposables for sale anywhere we stopped,. so the photos below are taken from the internet with appropriate links to where I found them.<br />

Farmguy ended up about 2' from a rattle snake. He didn't realize just what the noise was, he thought it sounded like a cicada or other bug, not like he thought a rattle snake sounded.<br />
<br />
I think we saw the exact same horses in the picture, or at least some very like them. They were beautiful.<br />
<br />
We didn't see any Big Horn sheep which was a bit disappointing. But all in all we had a good time.<br />

<br />
He has always wanted a Mercy vestment to wear on Mercy Sunday.<br />
<br />
For those unfamiliar with Mercy Sunday it is based on a series of visions by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faustina_Kowalska" target="_blank">St Faustina</a> concerning the Mercy of Christ.<br />
<br />
The image that was given to ST Faustina looks like this<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.catholicbible101.com/Divine_Mercy_Image.jpg?0.08694508238232956" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://www.catholicbible101.com/Divine_Mercy_Image.jpg?0.08694508238232956" height="320" width="238" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">http://www.catholicbible101.com/Divine_Mercy_Image.jpg?0.08694508238232956</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
St Pope JohnPaul II named the Sunday after Easter as Mercy Sunday.<br />
<br />
Father found a chasuble with an image of Christ's Mercy on it, but didn't like the style.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqSIiWCEr4DpgNVayXPj8lYz6xs4QNwoP-LAEAkg27CvpOlpM4XMAdpe2F5bkAGMDdAHTgvQqQULRlM_-TIM0Ifiyco9WnSFymziQrx1aCJy2dqSGpFNETt1-XUUp1Gva_G5IJS4E6JHpM/s1600/040915+VestmentMercy1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqSIiWCEr4DpgNVayXPj8lYz6xs4QNwoP-LAEAkg27CvpOlpM4XMAdpe2F5bkAGMDdAHTgvQqQULRlM_-TIM0Ifiyco9WnSFymziQrx1aCJy2dqSGpFNETt1-XUUp1Gva_G5IJS4E6JHpM/s1600/040915+VestmentMercy1.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
He had another Chasuble he liked but didn't have the image<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM4RILNxKQSk2BznRZ2DbBPLBOPbjglpNYROnkJMlEM82twpoKtuTzly46fh0vRP5SNlmAVDdKjS1LS-tCbVYEXUx4WA57hx-toBLyHVz6UaWzs8kpeMvImGPOWrJuPyXxIw1vq3y7uEIM/s1600/040915+Vestment2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM4RILNxKQSk2BznRZ2DbBPLBOPbjglpNYROnkJMlEM82twpoKtuTzly46fh0vRP5SNlmAVDdKjS1LS-tCbVYEXUx4WA57hx-toBLyHVz6UaWzs8kpeMvImGPOWrJuPyXxIw1vq3y7uEIM/s1600/040915+Vestment2.jpg" height="320" width="207" /></a></div>
So he asked if I could put the image from the first one onto the 2nd one. <br />
It turned out that the image was actually embroidered directly onto the front and back panels of the first vestment. So I had to remove the panels and cut around the image to make an applique. I was really worried about cutting the gold embroidered threads, but it worked out O.K. <br />
<br />
I have gotten the front image stitched on<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ9R0x7sNnznZMabAhdfNzV3AdaV6lcB2ifPI9noekpKG4pnColt5vqMdU1r_Q39XTV2Xo_wNV5WX4DkDjX1OoGEKnJuwE5PlgSXwQIhclbKK0N490EEtuCpWzc2dsi4qQ6khbb5pMLXkR/s1600/040915+VestmentMercyPlacement.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ9R0x7sNnznZMabAhdfNzV3AdaV6lcB2ifPI9noekpKG4pnColt5vqMdU1r_Q39XTV2Xo_wNV5WX4DkDjX1OoGEKnJuwE5PlgSXwQIhclbKK0N490EEtuCpWzc2dsi4qQ6khbb5pMLXkR/s1600/040915+VestmentMercyPlacement.jpg" height="320" width="172" /></a></div>
but I used a very thin nylon thread so have to wait for tomorrow morning to do the back so I can see better.<br />
<br />
These old eyes had some trouble tonight - actually, I couldn't see the thread, I just watched the needle placement.<br />
Here is a closer look<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-g3iCSea9gx2Sp56SafTr-asgLL_23PX8GZm4nThyphenhyphenkbSXGIOO0Mj6qc9KHksnpE7Ys5k9B3CIYWAwpw1wLRs9qSvBiZLLtqO-0bbMBuw33nMHuzdJXJXdk8C6EzRXZbcxHluDKDzKtigY/s1600/040915+VestmentMercyPlacement2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-g3iCSea9gx2Sp56SafTr-asgLL_23PX8GZm4nThyphenhyphenkbSXGIOO0Mj6qc9KHksnpE7Ys5k9B3CIYWAwpw1wLRs9qSvBiZLLtqO-0bbMBuw33nMHuzdJXJXdk8C6EzRXZbcxHluDKDzKtigY/s1600/040915+VestmentMercyPlacement2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think it turned out pretty well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next week, back to socks, as the de Quervain syndrome in my left wrist is still interfering with my tatting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is finished</div>

My how time flies.<br />
<br />
I have done a bit of tatting but nothing that I really wish to post. However, I have been knitting socks.<br />
<br />
I have registered a company in my state - Farmgal's Twisted Fiber - and will be trying to sell socks, tatted lace and crocheted items at various venues in the area. In the mean time, I have a page on Facebook -- <a href="https://www.facebook.com/FarmgalsTwistedFiber?ref=aymt_homepage_panel" target="_blank">Farmgal's Twisted Fiber</a> <br />
<br />
I have posted my first 4 pair of socks for sale. If you click on the picture, you will be able to read the caption listing the fiber content and the sizing. <br />

These are just some of the socks I have been knitting on my 1924 Gearhart Sock Machine. I have actually done about 20 pr and I have maybe 20 pr left to get done.<br />
<br />
I have also been doing a few toys on my machine for some small grandchildren<br />

I am putting out some pictures so maybe one of you might be able to identify it.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii2XCzskY7HyA_C2yI1F4LoZ8CssibXhuq2BxNC5kh38jicwaJ9_tHo33dMcCcb6ELcaTjEL_MTHjCX_qkC70hDejY8jbCjZDNleqbI_t8XdpoQxXu7opPgnRtWCMzrvJNCrqWeE6QIjiS/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii2XCzskY7HyA_C2yI1F4LoZ8CssibXhuq2BxNC5kh38jicwaJ9_tHo33dMcCcb6ELcaTjEL_MTHjCX_qkC70hDejY8jbCjZDNleqbI_t8XdpoQxXu7opPgnRtWCMzrvJNCrqWeE6QIjiS/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Left side</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The item seems to be cast iron and meant to be mounted to a board with the bottom wing nut<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhosq6AVWNegZzWMhpt56wB3QrOSNr4KtdXXERGkuPs6-qihXmIaKkLk4m5VYiK5adxIkerFE0VH9yj3Wz-76haUx_UlOsbWZpbBvPrGfDYSujvE2SPW6GR-M5OKwZRxIEYIVB8WyUitizY/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhosq6AVWNegZzWMhpt56wB3QrOSNr4KtdXXERGkuPs6-qihXmIaKkLk4m5VYiK5adxIkerFE0VH9yj3Wz-76haUx_UlOsbWZpbBvPrGfDYSujvE2SPW6GR-M5OKwZRxIEYIVB8WyUitizY/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt2.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">back side</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
As you can see there are 2 spouts<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5yDKsyB0wtlYAvJ8h78NTc_Pqh-xO8RxBhgSlcG_TNVH2q0ASbfTBoV-7BDXQU-Xwb4ofC4wcjeSzpz7sgAssFqMkLowUnE-dTKn4UMCb4NIbOnct_4ZhyujgDd1aKlFuvXRKoxmh_e9/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5yDKsyB0wtlYAvJ8h78NTc_Pqh-xO8RxBhgSlcG_TNVH2q0ASbfTBoV-7BDXQU-Xwb4ofC4wcjeSzpz7sgAssFqMkLowUnE-dTKn4UMCb4NIbOnct_4ZhyujgDd1aKlFuvXRKoxmh_e9/s1600/141101+WhatIsIt3.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">right side</td></tr>

Looks the same as the left side<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">the front</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The top</td></tr>

This is the top closed. as you can see, there is a wing screw that would allow you to open the top<br />

Here you can see the gears that run the rollers that are inside what ever this is.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">side view open</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Another look at the rollers. They are not cast iron, maybe a type of rubber?<br />
<br />
any and all thoughts would be appreciated.<br />
Thanks<br />

<br />
I have done a couple pairs of socks<br />
<br />
This is my first pair of really good wearable socks. They are not perfect, but they are wearable. And they feel really nice on my feet. I wore them to work 1 day.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4EWME3oZThgRE9fMuBe4Tr-auSE36B4M9auiJRacPBTNBe32eh5YUHUBNU3ILi38WCtZqld4kVsSGIN1A5IIntPeI0gQrQl9_55YhFgzssmTRtmm0ddnCDC8SaGDDCIc5YvE8lH1lDdpZ/s1600/141012+FirstSocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4EWME3oZThgRE9fMuBe4Tr-auSE36B4M9auiJRacPBTNBe32eh5YUHUBNU3ILi38WCtZqld4kVsSGIN1A5IIntPeI0gQrQl9_55YhFgzssmTRtmm0ddnCDC8SaGDDCIc5YvE8lH1lDdpZ/s1600/141012+FirstSocks.jpg" height="244" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Deborah Norville brand but lost the label, so do not know the colorway</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I finished another pair tonight<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiywyt2HP4ngeLdaAhXlKEdHeh4FmYpzHvr6BeIlYLxfsB0xyN1wtcgjx00on3RJ4J_jb8dXgMPHPa9n9ZNRQu_Esyafdnn7d0NlmzVX9wNTnEYg6kGNscZFCmfAbzpayeLE30TCleHQzmX/s1600/141031+Wsz11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiywyt2HP4ngeLdaAhXlKEdHeh4FmYpzHvr6BeIlYLxfsB0xyN1wtcgjx00on3RJ4J_jb8dXgMPHPa9n9ZNRQu_Esyafdnn7d0NlmzVX9wNTnEYg6kGNscZFCmfAbzpayeLE30TCleHQzmX/s1600/141031+Wsz11.jpg" height="235" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Herrschner's Sock Yarn Stripes in color Royalty</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This pair didn't knit up as nicely. I do not know if it is the dark color of dye, or the brand of yarn, but it was not as soft or knit as smooth as the first pair.<br />
<br />
I hope you all are having a wonderful halloween. This is my mother's 87th Birthday today. She has always had a good sense of humor about being a "witch" at least on this day. Today she went downtown to get her hair done and wore her witches outfit. He He, good for her. I hope I am as carefree when I am her age.<br />

These bookmarks will be donated to the Boutique at <a href="http://rollag.com/" target="_blank">Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag MN</a>. A 4 day celebration of steam engines, tractors, and all things big iron.<br />
<br />
The last few years I have demo'd tatting there. This year due to farmguy's health, I was not able to go.<br />
<br />
But I did some of my part to help by tatting the bookmarks and sending them with another gal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The cross bookmark is my own pattern that I have used for years. The vining bookmarks are based on an edging pattern that was posted on Facebook. <br />
<br />
The green is a Flora thread in size 20. The varigated threads are Lizbeth. The cross bookmark is done in an acrylic lace yarn that should be purple and green but for some reason the scan does not show true. <br />
This is what the thread looks like<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also did a quick run up to Rollag and picked up my refurbished Circular Sock Machine<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now to get practicing so I can get some socks knitted before the weather gets colder.<br />
<br />
Farmguy has 2 surgeries scheduled for this week so we shall see how things go this time. Wednesday he is to have the Nephrostomy tubes in his back replaced ans apparently, good medical practice states they need to be replaced every 90 days. The one on Friday is to reverse the iliostomy. Thanks be to God that there will be no complications this time around.<br />
<br />
I hope you had a wonderful tatting labor day weekend. <br />
<br />

done through round 5. The thread is size 40 hand dyed for me by Monica Braxton of<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/NAGStudio?ref=pr_faveshops" target="_blank"> NAGstudio</a> on Etsy. I think it is turning out like I was thinking of a field of wild violets. <br />
<br />

The thread is size 20 and the pattern is one I do by memory, I do not know where I picked it up, I have done it so many times over the years.<br />
<br />
I also purchased 3 new shuttles the last couple months. Did I need them? No, I did not, but I wanted them. he he, not really smart money management, but they fed the need.<br />
They are all <a href="http://elite-creation.com/" target="_blank">Elite Creations Slider shuttles</a>.<br />

I really like the Teal and Rose Burl shuttles, they are short and I can go really fast with them. The cross bookmarks each took my only an hour and a half to tat them. <br />
The India Ironwood is a bit longer and I poke myself occasionally when tatting at speed.<br />
<br />
Now onto other subjects, so if you don't want to read any further, you don't have to.<br />
<br />
I have been absent from blogging for a long time. Some of you know
that Farmguy was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and underwent Prostate
removal surgery on April 30. It was to have been an overnight stay.
well, things didn't go so well, and he didn't get out of the hospital
until Jun 28th. I lived in his hospital room with him, it made his stay
go so much better, he didn't have to wait for nurses to come help with
much of what he needed. We did nearly lose him once during surgery.
7.5hrs on the table for surgery #2, and 5.5 hrs for surgery #3<br />
<br />
During
that time he underwent 2 more major abdominal surgeries. Both caused
by complications that developed during recovery, not due to additional
cancer.<br />
<br />
He is recovering slowly but still has a long way
to go. He came home with 5 drains, and umpteen pills and shots. He
has been able to get rid of 1 drain, but still has 2 nephrostomy tubes
draining his kidneys into bags strapped to his legs, and both and
Illiostomy and a Colostomy glued to his abdomen.<br />
During his stay in the hosp he lost 40 pounds, he now weighs 153 on a 6' frame. <br />
<br />
Last fall he bought a new tractor and a new combine, will the tractor was brand new, but the combine is new to us, <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3OQlDJPJzauLI2iCUrFG2NrkY0fsdHCQnlNd4HhR1hO6WEfTf6gU4KFkk50mxCVqsPs6TK6hCTUhyiP7ZFXdsw3GgB7BbNBJHfBDhX9LCS7_oTB2vxS4EFksKsUENftCdmEv3ul_RqE_y/s1600/2014+TracChallengerTractor+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3OQlDJPJzauLI2iCUrFG2NrkY0fsdHCQnlNd4HhR1hO6WEfTf6gU4KFkk50mxCVqsPs6TK6hCTUhyiP7ZFXdsw3GgB7BbNBJHfBDhX9LCS7_oTB2vxS4EFksKsUENftCdmEv3ul_RqE_y/s1600/2014+TracChallengerTractor+3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3vb-eKiIl9TbNGHVSd0-zVCyPG9GfNSuPVLwLLssDjkZmYvNCB-rnRnT_rkD2i6XoartJOGRfCXfthgdCfhnoxoYnt_Zii-qDW5ACOeIMVh6oU7OYK9PwZOZX5Yzjn4gnoy8eVPE1B5_Y/s1600/2014+combine+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3vb-eKiIl9TbNGHVSd0-zVCyPG9GfNSuPVLwLLssDjkZmYvNCB-rnRnT_rkD2i6XoartJOGRfCXfthgdCfhnoxoYnt_Zii-qDW5ACOeIMVh6oU7OYK9PwZOZX5Yzjn4gnoy8eVPE1B5_Y/s1600/2014+combine+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
he had a chance to drive the tractor doing some spring tillage and a
bit of planting before he had to go to the hosp, but never got a chance
to drive the combine. Wheat harvest will be going full bore in a couple
of days so since the tractor was easy riding this spring, he thought
the combine might be too, well not so much. His hopes of running the
combine during harvest were shattered today. He is not healed up
enough. So, he will have to sit on the sidelines at least for wheat and
likely next month for soybeans, but is hoping he can help with Corn
harvest in late October/November. <br />
<br />
Because of his
recovery, I have received permission to work from home so I can take
care of him, and give him his meds, one of which is a shot that he gets
3x's a day. So much fun to poke a needle in him. <br />
<br />
My garden this year got lost in the weeds while I was at the hosp so you don't get to see that this year.<br />
<br />
Our old dog died last year, so this year I decided to get chickens again. I ordered them before things got out of hand with Farmguy. <br />
This is what 75 baby chicks looked like on May 16th, when they were 2 days old.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Did you know they mail your baby chicks to you?<br />
This is how they come<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKLc7b1CCV_DQaMJQgPQym-LP64AUflfs_kqhNGvCKlH_7Gghxnp5DLlTUSi5VYYPWz-NT0Xzm0PuwPBAfZhldwXTdr3rt7hIuC6RKmnCgs6NLDhaVzc8t3OiF31-TokRQ7Y8G3G0ofRfj/s1600/140516+ChicksInBox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKLc7b1CCV_DQaMJQgPQym-LP64AUflfs_kqhNGvCKlH_7Gghxnp5DLlTUSi5VYYPWz-NT0Xzm0PuwPBAfZhldwXTdr3rt7hIuC6RKmnCgs6NLDhaVzc8t3OiF31-TokRQ7Y8G3G0ofRfj/s1600/140516+ChicksInBox.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
And here is what they look like in the box, you can't tell, but there are 25 Buff Orpingtons and 50 White Cross<br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The White Cross roosters and most of the hens will be headed for the freezer next month. The Buff's and a few white hens will be a new layer flock. <br />
<br />
This is what my chicken house looks like. it is very old, it was old when we moved here in 1976. I think I need to give it a coat of white wash this summer so it will be brighter this fall and winter. <br />

It is only 12' X10' I am standing in the door and there are 2 windows on the same side as the door, and the one window you see is facing west. The chickens spend most of their days outside in the pen, we can't let them run free range, there is a fox den out in the pasture not too far from the yard. If they ran free the fox would eat them. And there are eagles nesting near the river a mile north, they would eat good too, so they are confined to the house and the pen. <br /><br />
Well, this is long enough, but gives you a bit of catch up on me for the past couple of months.<br />
Happy Tatting.<br />

<br />
Many talented tatters around the world have or are tatting Renulek's Spring doily. It is very pretty.<br />
<br />
Now <a href="http://renulek.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Renulek</a> is posting her Summer Doily.<br />
<br />
I am going to do this one. I don't know how large this one will get, some of her doilies have been very large.<br />
<br />
I had in mind the way I wanted this doily to look and needed some new thread colors.<br />
<br />
I really enjoy the early spring violas, Johnny Jump Ups, wild violets and pretty Pansys. So I thought that a doily that brought that out would look very nice.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
So, I contacted a thread dyer with an etsy shop - <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/NAGStudio" target="_blank">NAGSTUDIOS</a> that I have become familiar with on FaceBook - Monica Braxton.<br />
<br />
This is what she was able to come up with for me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTvjojsTaTM4mt9omQww2I3gHiOiJhmeOok1HNAVo6nHCPIjxab8hYrqdTv6WHlWpOHQKdQDwHTETJUvACjoiVIBQ1JSHDu-ilA2xPZjphAMeB5OKTl1fB8uj8z6RHVTwX9XbmwkH9pRRq/s1600/050814threads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTvjojsTaTM4mt9omQww2I3gHiOiJhmeOok1HNAVo6nHCPIjxab8hYrqdTv6WHlWpOHQKdQDwHTETJUvACjoiVIBQ1JSHDu-ilA2xPZjphAMeB5OKTl1fB8uj8z6RHVTwX9XbmwkH9pRRq/s1600/050814threads.jpg" height="223" width="320" /></a></div>
I think this is going to look very good.<br />
<br />
<br />
on another note, I have been absent from online sources for a while now, and that might continue sporadically. my husband had cancer surgery last week, it turned out well, but was way more involved then originally hoped. Now he needs to heal and that is going to be a very slow process. <br />
<br />

Please remind your male family and friends that a simply PSA blood test for Prostate cancer will make their lives much easier when it is caught early rather than late. A pinched nerve or something. The Chiropractor said there was some kind of calcium deposit or something, but it is fixed now and I can get some tatting done.<br />
<br />
The first thing I have done is Jane Eborall's <a href="http://tatitandsee.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">TIAS pattern </a><br />
The threads are both size 20 in Lizbeth Rainbow Taffy and DMC Babylo in orange <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You will note that I have an extra ring at the top of the mast. I needed an easy way to hide my final ends so used a SSSR to do so. Works like a charm. Thanks Jane for the fun pattern. <br />
<br />
With the weather this past several days, we may need a boat. We have gotten over 2" in the past 3 days, but several miles from here they have had almost 4". All the whole month of April we didn't get any and now it is coming at once. Only good thing, it should finally get the frost out of the ground. The farmguy and other farmers around here are chaffing at the bit.<br />
<br />
Have a really great May day on Thursday.<br />

<br />
I don't actually turn 60 until monday, but to get the most people together it needed to be done on a weekend.<br />
<br />
They treated us to dinner at one of the better restaurants in the area. Then they took us all bowling. I think all 22 of us from 2 - 66 had a good time. <br />
<br />
My bestie made both an eclair cake and 3 candy bar pies for dessert so we all enjoyed ourselves.<br />
<br />
I got some great gifts.<br />
<br />
A ball of very pretty thread to tat with<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWptOnbHvJStJUrKyHRRfw72zamKOtxxrvr7lBT_W46AM6ObuJCzll4dJKWApS3YFW3KOLFrnzhu4acwXqQ1QDVjd_3XU8ViF-AAszFry4RcK6ZjTEhTtNkXTYkBZcyqvnW1oEkvchr7bD/s1600/140412+PurpleGreenThread.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWptOnbHvJStJUrKyHRRfw72zamKOtxxrvr7lBT_W46AM6ObuJCzll4dJKWApS3YFW3KOLFrnzhu4acwXqQ1QDVjd_3XU8ViF-AAszFry4RcK6ZjTEhTtNkXTYkBZcyqvnW1oEkvchr7bD/s1600/140412+PurpleGreenThread.jpg" height="320" width="302" /></a></div>
<br />
Purples and greens this will be very pretty worked up.<br />
<br />
My daughter must have done some research and got me some sock yarn from Pat Fly. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9RmSaWIRtDjCcKpqmC6fgGqV6sxE6oAEP3t9BMeDhwc8WpueOeMjFlWb6am7RzhFCTMWmHL4eZipJocvGOZzipwWunRyjuRSW47grXI4qYOkXA0AkE0B98UaofMq5O9z2N18LI-KnqyuC/s1600/140412+SockYarn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9RmSaWIRtDjCcKpqmC6fgGqV6sxE6oAEP3t9BMeDhwc8WpueOeMjFlWb6am7RzhFCTMWmHL4eZipJocvGOZzipwWunRyjuRSW47grXI4qYOkXA0AkE0B98UaofMq5O9z2N18LI-KnqyuC/s1600/140412+SockYarn.jpg" height="307" width="320" /></a></div>
The colors in the picture are quite as rich as the yarn really is but it is going to be very nice to work with. The ombre Rose is a Super Wash Merino Wool, so it doesn't have to be hand washed. The Blue/Purple variegated is also a Super Wash but a Blue Face Leicester Wool so that is really nice. The Natural colored skein in the center is 30% NZ Possum 50% Merino Wool and 20% Nylon.<br />
<br />
<br />
Just this morning I was doing some research on NZ Possum to see what exactly that is, and it really is fur from an Australian Possum that is over running New Zealand. From what I understand when you mix the fur from the Possum with the wool to make yarn, then wash the item you have knitted, the Possum fibers "fluff" up and make really nice thick warm clothing.<br />
<br />
These yarns are going to be fun to work with. Right now my Circular Sock Machine (CSM) is visiting the specialist. It needs a bit of work before I can make any more socks on it. Once that gets back home I will be having some fun with it.<br />
<br />
Thank you all for a wonderful day. Ladytatshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13333655818263465112noreply@blogger.com14
